The UK Government has announced a £380 million investment package to supercharge growth, innovation, and regional opportunity in the nation’s creative industries.

In a recent Press Release, The UK's  Department for Culture, Media and Sport annouced funding set to benifit thousands of professionals and business. The funding forms the backbone of the new Creative Industries Sector Plan, which lays out a clear ten-year vision to nearly double private business investment in the sector to £31 billion by 2035.

Backing Talent and Building Skills

A £10 million investment in the National Film and Television School will train 2,000 new apprentices and trainees over the next decade. A further £9 million will fund a new creative careers service to introduce young people to opportunities in the sector. Industry leaders including Disney and Sky are backing the initiative to build a strong skills pipeline for the future.

Targeted Support for High-Growth Sectors

The package includes a £75 million Screen Growth Fund for the tv and film industry, primed to develop UK content and attract international investment.

The government also announced a £30 million boost for grassroots music and emerging artists.

The video games sector will also benefit from a £30 million package to grow start-ups and scale events such as the London Games Festival, with fashion designers receiving support through the British Fashion Council’s NEWGEN programme.

Driving Regional Growth

The plan includes a £150 million Creative Places Growth Fund, which will give mayors in six regions outside London the power to support local creative businesses. It also provides £50 million to expand Creative Industries Clusters, doubling UKRI’s existing support to £100 million. These clusters will bring together universities, businesses and local policymakers to drive innovation and local economic impact.
