Your work as a creative freelancer can take you to a lot of different places.

Whether you are working from home, at a shared workspace, in your own office or studio or visiting a client’s workplace, it is important to make sure you are well prepared and able to manage any risks you may face while working.

To help you with this, we have developed the free risk assessment checklists below that can be applied to any workplace you may be working in:

Working from home – free risk assessment checklist

This document covers potential risks you may face while working from home, including:

  • Working environment
  • Electrical equipment
  • Stress
  • Emergency arrangements

Shared workspace – risk assessment checklist

This covers potential risks associated with a shared or co-working space, including:

  • Slips and trips
  • Display Screen Equipment (DSE)
  • Electrical equipment
  • Fire
  • Facilities
  • Data protection

Office/studio – risk assessment checklist

This covers potential risks to you, your staff and visitors to your office or studio, including:

  • Slips and trips
  • Manual handling
  • Display Screen Equipment (DSE)
  • Electrical equipment
  • Fire

Client’s workplace – risk assessment checklist

This template covers potential risks associated with visiting or working at a client’s office, such as:

  • Slips and trips
  • Display Screen Equipment (DSE)
  • Electrical equipment
  • Fire
  • Facilities
  • Data protection

Please note that the above checklists are to be used as draft copies of a generic Risk Assessment to identify risks and put controls in place. As such, they are not likely to cover all scenarios for every possible situation and are designed as a starting point for you to use as a template.
